That's What She Said: In Ink

It's week one of Magic Summer 2018 and that means @magicsummervintage and I are out treasure hunting. And then blogging about it. (Check out her story here.) Summer really cooperated with us for our inaugural voyage! Sunny and in the upper 80s.  YES PLEASE! Because we are #teamsummer all the way! (Let's not talk about the fact that I'm panicking because it's already July.  Which means nasty old winter is creeping ever closer...ever closer.)

We started the day with a quick detour to nowhere. (Right place, wrong date.)  Then we got back on track with a neighborhood sale.  One that we've been to several times before.  We never find much, but there were no good looking estate sales so, we thought, why not? Plus, it was sunny and hot, and we are those what enjoy such things.

We walked around in the blazing sun and heat, finding not much, but enjoying ourselves immensely.  I used Ann's sunblock because I forgot mine, and she is never, ever without hers.  I got zero color, which was a disappointment to me, but a real win for her brand of block!

I (of course) didn't take many photos, but I did get a shot of this cute cabana board in a garage done up like a tiki bar.

I only purchased two things the whole time.  For a total of one dollar.  A vintage Tang juice caraf, and a vintage Hallmark easter bunny pin. (Not pictured - but who is surprised, really?) I think Ann got one thing.  I'll let her fill you in on the wonder of her single purchase.

After a rather unsuccessful treasure hunt, we decided it was time for a treat.  Because, summer.  And sunshine.  And either of us can be talked in to a treat for however flimsy a reason at exactly any point in time.

We had passed my favorite local chain ice cream place on the way to the neighborhood sale, and it clearly was a sign. Frozen yogurt is a siren that will not be denied.  And this time they had pistachio!  I'd never had their pistachio before! I had a sample and nearly fainted dead away. Meet my new best friend, Abbot's pistachio frozen yogurt!  Behold the creamy mint green goodness!

After we had justly and fairly treated ourselves for doing such a great job of loving summertime, we got back to work. And by "work" I mean, we went to have lunch.

There is a fabulous new gin joint in town. And by "gin joint" I mean, bar/restaurant. It's called Rochester Beer Park and it's set up like a funky trailer park.  Complete with RVs, lawn games, string, lights and plenty of deftly curated kitsch.  Take a peep!

Place your order at the RV window and order from the vintage letter board menu on top.

Pick up your food at the passenger side window when your phone alerts you that your food is ready!

Order a beer from the bobillion taps protruding from the side of his adorable airstream camper. Sangria and ciders also on tap! (I'm told they also have a full bar back there somewhere.)

Marvel at the kitschy finds and the atomic light fixtures!

The back yard could not be more inviting or adorable.

Can I get a witness?

Cute for days.

I should have taken a photo of my food, but I didn't. (Shocking, I know.) The fries were the best part.  They are skinny fries!  It's very very hard to find thin fries outside of a fast food restaurant.  I was so excited!

After lunch we had a very magical appointment.  For Ann.  At a tattoo parlor.  You heard me correctly.  She is now the most badass Hufflepuff that ever puffed!  She was a champ!  Only a few crazy pain faces, mostly just really excited and happy.

This is a photo of the outline.  The entire thing, (Designed by yours truly.)  with shading, only took about 20 minutes.  Magical!  You'll have to hop over to her blog to see the finished product!

All in all it was a very memorable start to Magic Summer, 2018!  Can't wait to share more adventures and treasures with you next week!
